Position - planning
Congratulations with your new ELRO PRO Alarm System AP5500, a secure and independently
working Alarm System!
This Short manual will help you through installation and Set-Up of your System effectively. If you have
further questions, ideas or recommendations, visit www.elro.eu
for a detailed manual, an FAQ section
and the possibility to leave us with your honest feedback on our products.
MULTIPLE USERS
The system allows up to 6 Users and one Master User. Each user will have a different Password.
Agree about the different Passwords:
Master:______User1:______User2:______User3:______User4:______User5:_______User6:______
How to start?:
Overview your home as a burglar! Which entrances do you think he will take? What is your main
entrance? Do you want to switch your alarm on and off with a remote, use the Alarm Panel, or use an
external Keypad (not included). What do you need to prevent and how? Do you want to switch on the
alarm only when you are away from home, or also when you are a sleep?
A: Door/window contact B: PIR motion sensor C: PIR motion sensor E: Remote Control
D: Door/window contact F: Alarm Panel
Divide the house in Alarm parts according figure:
It is possible to put the Alarm system in Partial armed (2 different parts) and full armed.
For example when we are at home we only Arm the Garage PARM1, but not the rest. If we are a sleep, we
only arm the Garage and down floors PARM2, but not the rest. If we are away from home Full armed.
We also can give a sensor being defined as an sensor with Exit/Entry Delay. For example; If we leave
home, and we want to switch on the alarm on the panel, we give the door/window magnet E: the Exit/Entry
delay status. All other sensors can have the immediate status. Your system can be divided in groups or
zones. When there is an alarm you can see which Zone gave alarm. The zone number also will be selected
on the sensor. All sensor in the same zone will have the same PARM and Exit/Entry delay statuses.
You can divide up to 6 zones. If you have not more than 6 zones you can give each sensor its own zone
number.
Draw a map of your home, mark the places to be secured, and make an overview on the last page like:
A: Door/window contact : Zone number: 01 PARM1:On PARM2: On Exit/Entry Delay: Off
B: PIR Motion Sensor : Zone number: 02 PARM1:Off PARM2: On Exit/Entry Delay: Off
C: PIR Motion Sensor : Zone number: 03 PARM1:Off PARM2: Off Exit/Entry Delay: Off
D: Door/window contact : Zone number: 04 PARM1:Off PARM2: On Exit/Entry Delay: On
E: Remote Control : advise to take this with you when you go to bed. Easy to control the alarm, and in
reach in case of panic!
F: Alarm Panel : can be installed hidden, for example behind the hood in the hall.
Telephone numbers: Consider which numbers must be called in case of alarm: fill in the numbers on the
overview on the last page.

Preparing and installing our new ELRO 10 Zone alarm system.
We advise to do the pre work, easily on the table, and install later. First unpack all accessories and
sort the batteries together with the accessories. Unscrew and open all products.
House Code:
All products must be programmed with the same house code. In all accessories (not in the Alarm
panel) you will find a code dipswitch block like in figure:
The Alarm Panel:
LCD Display Window
Keypad Status LEDs
Connect battery leads to both back-up batteries: Battery 1 (left): Red lead to +, Blue lead to , Battery 2
(right): Blue lead to +, Black lead to ve battery terminal.
If the telephone based functionality is to be used then the Control Panel will need connecting to a
convenient telephone point. Route the cable from the Power Supply Unit up behind, connect the plug to
the DC power socket in the panel. Take care that during installation and testing on the table, the
sabotage switch and the back stays free. Now set the Alarm panel in programming mode, by pressing:
1 USER SETUPis displayed.
Remote Control:
The Remote Control is used to Arm, Part-Arm 1-2 and Disarm the system, or give a panic alarm.
Insert the 3V (CR2032) battery.

house code into the remote, same
as in the magnet and the PIR.

PIR Sensors are designed to detect movement.
Insert the 9 Volt battery. The PIR will warm-up during 2-3 minutes. The LED will flash. When it is ready
the LED stops. First check the house code: SW2; switch 1 8 (must be same as Remote Control). You
can divide your detectors over your total home in zones. You can set the alarm zone the PIR detector
will operate on, by switch the dip switches 1, 2 and 3 (of SW3; dipswitch 1-5) in the position according
schedule above. Mark which zone number on the PIR. For walk test mode you put dip 4 of SW3 On.
Dont forget to put back in Off. Test the PIR in the walk test mode. In normal mode the PIR will only send
a mew signal after being triggered after 2 minutes
The PIR sensor incorporates an anti-false alarm for where the Sensor might be affected by e.g. insects,
air temperature etc. We recommend high sensitivity, but in case of affection of (e.c. insects) , you can
adjust dip 5 of SW3 to Off: low sensitivity detection!
Door/window magnet:
The Magnetic Contact consists of two parts; a Detector and a Magnet. They are designed to be fitted
to doors or windows with the Magnet mounted on the moving/opening part.
Mounting the door/wind magnet:
Decide which doors/windows are to be protected by fitting Magnetic
Contact Detectors, (usually the front and back doors. Additional detectors
may also be fitted where required to other vulnerable doors or windows,
(e.g. garage, patio/conservatory doors etc).Ensure that the position selected
for the Magnetic Contact detector is within effective range of the Control Panel, (refer to
‘Testing the Control Panel & Remote Control’). Remove the battery holder, and mount the
detector using either the adhesive tape or screws. Fit the Magnet to the moving part of the door/window
opposite the Detector. Ensure that the parallel gap between the Magnet and Detector is less than 10mm
and that the arrow on the Magnet is pointing towards and aligned with the mark on the Detector.
Mounting the PIR motion sensor:
Household pets should not be allowed into an area protected by a PIR detector! Do not locate the
detector facing a window facing direct sunlight. PIR Detectors are not suitable for use in
conservatories. Do not locate the detector where it is exposed to ventilators. Do not locate the detector

directly above a heat source, (e.g. fire, radiator, boiler, etc). Where possible, mount the detector in the
corner of the room so that the logical path of an intruder would cut across the fan detection pattern.
PIR detectors respond more effectively to movement across the device than to movement directly
towards it. Where possible, mount the detector in the corner of the room so that the logical path of an
intruder would cut across the fan detection pattern.
