DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE IN A CLOSED AREA
THAT IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY VENTILATED.
Manual gearbox
- Ensure that you are in
neutral.
- Press on the brake pedal and do
not touch the accelerator.
- For Diesel engines: turn the key
to the ignition on position. Wait
for for the preheater warning
lamp to go out, if it has come
on.
- Action the starter by turning the
key until the engine starts (not
more than ten seconds).
- In temperatures lower than 0°C,
declutch while the starter is
operating to ease starting. Then
release the clutch slowly.
SensoDrive gearbox
- Press on the brake pedal.
- Do not touch the accelerator.
- Action the starter by turning the
key until the engine starts (not
more than ten seconds).
Advice
Note : if the engine fails to start at the first attempt, switch off the ignition. Wait for ten seconds, then action the
starter again as above.
Diesel version
Never stop the engine without
having allowed it to idle for a few
seconds, this is the time required
to let the turbocharger return to a
normal speed.
Flicking the accelerator at the
moment you are switching off the
ignition could seriously damage
the turbocharger.
