SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read this owner’s guide
Please take the time to follow the instructions in this owner’s guide carefully.
It will help you set up and operate your system properly and enjoy its
advanced features. Please save this owner’s guide for future reference.
WARNINGS:
• To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not expose the product to
rain or moisture.
• To prevent electric shock, match the wide blade of the line cord plug to the
wide slot of the AC (mains) receptacle. Insert fully.
• Do not expose this apparatus to dripping or splashing, and do not place
objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on or near the apparatus. As with
any electronic product, use care not to spill liquids into any part of the
system. Liquids can cause a failure and/or a fire hazard.
• Do not place any naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, on or near
the apparatus.
• Keep the remote control battery away from children. It may cause a fire or
chemical burn if mishandled. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above
100°C (212°F), or incinerate. Dispose of used batteries promptly. Replace
only with a battery of the correct type and model number.
• Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with
Duracell, Eveready, Energizer, Maxell, Toshiba, or Shun Wo CR2032 or
DL2032 3-volt lithium battery.
• Contains small parts that may be a choking hazard. Not suitable for
children under age 3.
• Please dispose of used batteries properly, following any
local regulations. Do not incinerate.

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral
triangle alerts the user to the presence of uninsulated dangerous
voltage within the system enclosure that may be of sufficient

the presence of important operating and maintenance instructions
in this owner’s guide.
Notes:
• The product label is located on the back of the product.
• Where the mains plug or appliance coupler is used as the disconnect
device, such disconnect device shall remain readily operable.
• This product must be used indoors. It is neither designed nor tested for use
outdoors, in recreation vehicles, or on boats.
• Make no modifications to the system or accessories. Unauthorized

music system. Offering a high-quality, room-filling
sound, the SoundDock 10 digital music system can
easily serve as the primary digital music system in your
home.

Check the carton for all the parts shown.
Save the carton and packing materials, which provide
the safest way to transport this product.
If any part of the product appears to be damaged, do not
attempt to use it. Contact your authorized Bose dealer

Setting up your system
1. Place your SoundDock 10 digital music system on a
flat, stable surface.
2. Plug the small end of the AC power cord into the AC
power connector on the back of the unit.
3. Plug the other end into a live AC (mains) outlet. After
you hear two short tones from your SoundDock 10
system, it is ready to use.
Note: The tonal quality of your SoundDock 10 system will vary
with placement. For example, moving the system toward a corner
will increase bass response; moving it away from the corner will
decrease bass response.
CAUTION: Do not cover the ventilation openings of the
product. The slots on the top provide ventilation for the
built-in electronic circuitry and shall not be blocked.
Note: When handling the SoundDock 10 system, the front
structure containing the iPod/iPhone dock may feel loose.
This is normal. This part of the system is intentionally designed
to prevent speaker vibration from interfering with the operation
of your iPod/iPhone.
System on/off control
You can turn on your SoundDock 10 system in any of the
following three ways:
• Dock a device.
• Press any key except OFF on the Bose
®
remote.
• Press any key on the docked device.
To turn off the SoundDock 10 system, do either one of
the following:
• Press OFF on the SoundDock 10 remote.
• Remove the docked device.

Listening to a docked device
1. Insert your iPod or iPhone into the dock. The dock
indicator glows on the front panel.
2. Use the Bose
®
remote to control system functions.
Note: Your SoundDock
®
10 digital music system charges your
iPod/iPhone whenever it is docked.
Note: Your SoundDock 10 digital music system comes with a
universal dock adapter that can accommodate most iPod
models. If you prefer to use the adapter that came with your iPod,
see “Changing the dock adapter” on page 6.

Listening to other devices
You can connect the audio output of a PC, CD player, TV,
MP3 player, or other type of audio device to the AUX IN
connector. The AUX IN connector accepts a 3.5mm
stereo cable plug.
1. Using the appropriate stereo cable, connect your
audio device to the AUX IN connector.
Note: A device must be plugged into the AUX IN connector in
order to select the AUX source.
2. Press AUX on the Bose
®
remote. The AUX IN
indicator glows on the front panel.
3. Turn on the audio device and start playing music.
4. Set the volume of the device to near maximum.
Note: The SoundDock 10 system is designed to provide the
best audio performance without any additional audio effects.
Make sure all audio effects are turned off in the connected device.

5. Use the Bose
®
remote to increase or decrease the
system volume.
Notes:
• The Bose remote will not control devices connected to
AUX IN.
• A docked iPod/iPhone will continue charging while you
listen to a device connected to AUX IN.
Using the video output
When playing a docked iPhone or iPod with video
capability, the VIDEO OUT connector provides a
composite video output signal that can be viewed
on a TV or computer monitor.
To view this video output on your TV or monitor, connect
the VIDEO OUT to a video input using a standard
composite video cable. Be sure to select the correct
video input on your TV.

Changing the dock adapter
The SoundDock 10 digital music system is ready for use
with an iPhone or a variety of iPod models.
If you prefer to use the dock adapter included with your
iPod:
1. Make sure the power cord is disconnected.
2. Lift up the back edge of the adapter and remove it
from the dock.
You may need to insert a thin, non-metallic utensil
into the slot to provide the required leverage to lift the
back edge.
Care and maintenance
Periodic maintaining may include cleaning your product
and replacing the remote control batteries.
Cleaning
To clean the exterior surface of your product, you can
wipe it using a soft, dry cloth. You can also lightly
vacuum the grille.
• Do not use solvents, chemicals, or sprays.
• Do not allow liquids to spill or objects to drop into any
openings.
Replacing the remote control batteries
When the remote stops operating or its range seems
reduced, it is time to change the remote battery.
1. Using a coin, turn the battery cover slightly counter-
clockwise.

2. Remove the used battery and insert the new one
(CR2032 or DL2032). Refer to page ii for battery infor-
mation and safety instructions. Be sure the battery is
flat side up, with the positive (+) symbol in view.
3. Reseat the cover and turn it clockwise until it locks
into place.
iPod/iPhone compatibility
If you have questions regarding the compatibility of your
iPod/iPhone with the SoundDock 10 digital music
system, see www.Bose.com for the most current
compatibility information.
UPDATE connector
The UPDATE connector on the back of your SoundDock
10 system is for potential software updates, only.
Troubleshooting
The following troubleshooting table should help solve
operating problems with your SoundDock 10 system.
However, before using the table, do the following:
• Remove your iPod/iPhone from the dock and check
for obstructions on the dock connector and on your
iPod/iPhone. Then firmly reseat it in the dock.
• Make sure you have the latest software on your iPod/
iPhone.

Problem What to do
I do not hear any sound
from the SoundDock 10
system.
• Make sure the power cord is properly connected on the back of the SoundDock 10 system and that
the system is plugged into a live AC outlet.
• Press the source button (dock or AUX) on the remote for the source you are using.
• Press the Play/Pause button on the remote control.
• Increase the system volume.
• If listening to a device connected to AUX IN, increase the volume on the device.
• Remove your iPod/iPhone from the dock, wait 5 seconds, then reseat it.
• Unplug the power cable for 1 minute, then plug it back in to reset the system.
My iPod/iPhone is not
charging.
• Make sure the power cord is properly connected on the back of the unit.
• Make sure the system is plugged into a live AC outlet.
I cannot navigate the
playlists on my iPod/
iPhone.
• Make sure that you have created playlists on your iPod/iPhone.
My iPod/iPhone does not
respond to the remote
control.
• Make sure there is a clear path between the remote and the system.
• Using a clean, dry cloth, wipe the small lens on the front end of the remote.
• Try the remote from a different location. You may be experiencing interference from bright room
lights or sunlight.
• Remove your iPod/iPhone from the dock, wait 5 seconds, then reseat it.
• Make sure the remote battery is installed correctly or replace it if it is old (refer to page 6).
My system does not
respond to any controls.
• Unplug the power cable for 1 minute, then plug it back in to reset the system.

Limited warranty
Your SoundDock 10 digital music system is covered by a
limited transferable warranty. Details of the limited
warranty are provided on the product registration card
that is included in the carton. Please refer to the card for
instructions on how to register. Failure to register will not
affect your limited warranty rights.
What you must do to obtain limited
warranty service
Return product, with proof of purchase from an
authorized Bose dealer, using the following procedures:
1. Visit http://global.Bose.com or contact your local
authorized Bose dealer to identify the location of the
nearest authorized Bose
®
service facility.
2. Contact the authorized service facility for specific
return and shipping instructions.
3. Label and ship the product, freight prepaid, to the
address provided by the authorized service facility.
4. Place any necessary return authorization number
prominently on the outside of the carton.
Cartons not bearing a return authorization number,
where required, will be refused.

Instalación del sistema
1. Coloque el sistema de música digital SoundDock 10
sobre una superficie plana y estable.
2. Conecte el extremo pequeño del cable de
alimentación en el conector de alimentación de CA
situado en la parte posterior de la unidad.
3. Enchufe el otro extremo a una toma de red de CA.
Cuando el sistema SoundDock 10 emita dos tonos
breves, estará listo para utilizar.
Nota: La calidad tonal del sistema SoundDock 10 variará según
su ubicación. Por ejemplo, si acerca el sistema a un rincón
aumentará la respuesta de graves; si lo aleja, se reducirá.
PRECAUCIÓN: No tape las aberturas de ventilación del
producto. Las ranuras de la parte superior suministran
ventilación a los circuitos electrónicos incorporados y no
se deben bloquear.
Nota: Al manipular el sistema SoundDock 10 puede dar la
sensación de que la estructura delantera que contiene la base del
iPod/iPhone está suelta. Es normal. Esta parte del sistema se ha
diseñado intencionadamente para evitar que las vibraciones del
altavoz interfieran en el funcionamiento del iPod/iPhone.
Control de encendido/apagado
del sistema
Puede encender el sistema SoundDock 10 de tres
formas distintas:
• Acople un dispositivo.
• Pulse cualquier tecla salvo OFF en el mando a
distancia Bose
®
.
• Pulse cualquier tecla en el dispositivo acoplado.
Para apagar el sistema SoundDock 10, siga uno de
estos procedimientos:
• Pulse OFF en el mando a distancia del SoundDock 10.
• Retire el dispositivo acoplado.

Reproducción de otras fuentes
Puede conector la salida de audio de un PC, reproductor
de CD, televisor, reproductor de MP3 u otro tipo de
dispositivo de audio al conector AUX IN. El conector
AUX IN admite una clavija de cable estéreo de 3,5 mm.
1. Utilizando el cable estéreo adecuado, conecte el
dispositivo de audio al conector AUX IN.
Nota: Para seleccionar la fuente AUX deberá enchufar un
dispositivo al conector AUX IN.
2. Pulse AUX en el mando a distancia Bose
®
. Se
iluminará el indicador AUX IN en el panel frontal.
3. Encienda el dispositivo de audio y comience a
reproducir música.
4. Sitúe el control de volumen del dispositivo casi
al máximo.
Nota: El sistema SoundDock 10 está diseñado para
proporcionar la mejor calidad de sonido sin efectos de audio
adicionales. Compruebe que están apagados todos los efectos

5. Utilice el mando a distancia Bose

para subir o bajar
el volumen del sistema.
Notas:
• El mando a distancia Bose no controla dispositivos
conectados a AUX IN.
• Cuando el iPod/iPhone está acoplado sigue cargándose
mientras usted escucha un dispositivo conectado a
AUX IN.
Uso de la entrada de vídeo
Cuando reproduce un iPod o iPhone acoplado con
prestaciones de vídeo, el conector VIDEO OUT
proporciona una salida de vídeo compuesto que puede
verse en un televisor o en el monitor de un ordenador.
Para ver esta salida de vídeo en el televisor o el monitor,
conecte VIDEO OUT a una entrada de vídeo utilizando
un cable estándar de vídeo compuesto. Asegúrese de
seleccionar la entrada de vídeo correcta en el televisor.

Cambio del adaptador de
acoplamiento
El sistema de música digital SoundDock 10 está listo
para usar con un iPhone o distintos modelos de iPod.
Si prefiere utilizar el adaptador de acoplamiento incluido
con su iPod:
1. Compruebe que el cable de alimentación está
desconectado.
2. Levante el borde posterior del adaptador y retírelo
de la base.
Quizá necesite insertar un utensilio fino y no metálico
en la ranura para conseguir el apoyo necesario para
levantar el borde posterior.
Cuidado y mantenimiento
El mantenimiento periódico puede incluir la limpieza
del producto y la sustitución de las pilas del mando a
distancia.
Limpieza
Para limpiar la superficie exterior del producto puede
emplear una bayeta suave y seca. También puede
aspirar con cuidado la rejilla.
• No use disolventes, productos químicos ni aerosoles.
• No permita que se derrame ningún líquido ni que
caigan objetos en ninguna abertura.
Reemplazo de las pilas del mando a distancia
Cambie la pila cuando el mando a distancia deje de
funcionar o cuando parezca que tiene un menor alcance.
1. Empleando una moneda, gire la tapa de la pila
ligeramente en el sentido contrario al de las agujas
del reloj.
