1. Introduction
GEWA Connect is a combined hardware/app solution. After installing GEWA Connect on
your Android smartphone and pairing it with Multibox, you can operate apps on your phone
via an external switch. Via the app GEWA Connect you can use your smartphone as a
remote control for appliances and electronics in your home or place of work/study (e.g.
television, lights, air conditioning, door openers and curtains).
The intended users of GEWA Connect are persons who are physically unable to operate a
smartphone or a standard remote control, but otherwise cognitively and visually abled.
GEWA Connect is intended for indoor use only.
Important notes
1. Read this manual carefully before installing or operating GEWA Connect.
2. This manual assumes that you are familiar with the operation of the Android device
that you have chosen to use with GEWA Connect.
3. To secure that GEWA Connect is always active and working, you should:
a. make the recommended system settings on the smartphone, see
3.2 Recommendations
b. keep the Multibox near the smartphone (less than one metre) and in the same
room
c. avoid Bluetooth interference from other sources (e.g. microwave ovens)
d. charge the smartphone and the Multibox every day
e. use the original charger provided with the Multibox
4. If GEWA Connect should stop working, ensure that the user always can get help
through a backup system.
5. Before using GEWA Connect for environmental control, ensure that the equipment that
is used is correctly installed, that you are using it as intended and that it is safe to use.
6. Use only CE marked control switches and CE marked equipment together with GEWA
Connect.
7. Caution! Do not use the Alert function as an emergency alarm system. It is designed to
be used an alert system.
