Adjusting the drive
cable
The cable is correctly
adjusted in new units. The
cable may have to be re-
adjusted due to wear of the
clutch.
For this purpose, an
adjustment screw is provided
on the panel.
Correct adjustment:
Actuate the drive lever while
pulling the lawn mower
backwards.
The driving wheels must lock
after approx. one third of the
lever travel.

Observe the operating and
maintenance instructions
contained in the accompa-
nying engine instruction
manual. To achieve a long
service life, it is always
particularly important to
maintain a sufficient level of
oil and to change the oil and
air filter regularly.
The cooling ribs must always
be kept clean to ensure that
the engine is adequately
cooled.
Wheels and wheel drive
Maintenance interval:
Once a year
Plastic ball bearings are
maintenance-free. The metal
ball bearings should be
lubricated at least once a
year with resin-free grease
or oil.
Your dealer will be happy to
assist you.
The gearbox is maintenance-
free. (MB 455/ M/ E/ C/ BC)
Mowing blade
maintenance
Maintenance interval:
Every 25 operating hours
If mowing results deteriorate
with time, the mowing blade is
probably blunt.
Risk of injury!
Always wear
gloves.

Removing the mowing
blade
ACHTUNG

If you do not have the
necessary expertise or
auxiliary equipment, please
always contact your dealer.
In the interests of safety,
only use original VIKING
spare parts.
For removal, use a
25= wooden block (approx.
60 x 60 mm) to
counterhold the
24= mowing blade.
Loosen the
26= blade fastening screw(s)
using an A/F 17 spanner
and remove together with
the
27= retaining washer (not
fitted on MB 455 BC).
Remove the
24= mowing blade.
MB 450 M, MB 455 M:
The
24= mowing blade consists of
an upper blade (24a) and
a lower blade (24b). It can
be separated for
convenient regrinding.
Push the upper blade
(24a) to the left as far as
the stop and then lift the
opposite side.
The upper blade (24a) is
then disengaged from the
lower blade (24b) by
pushing to the right.
