STARTING UP
Before starting-up the tool, ensure that:
- the packaging is complete and does not show signs of having been
damaged during storage or transport;
- the tool is complete; check that the number and type of components
comply with that reported in this instruction booklet;
- the power supply and socket outlet can support the load reported in
the table and that indicated on the tool identification plate reproduced
and explained on page 11.
ASSEMBLING THE TOOL
(GL080-GL080E)
- Fit the guard (6) onto the machine body using the screws (8), then in-
sert the collar (7) verifying that the juts on the collar are aligned with the
slots on the protection flange. Verify that the guard is placed next to
the handle.
- After fitting the screws (8) and collar (7), verify that the guard can be
turned with a slight friction by approximately 20°, thus making work mo-
re comfortable for the operator;
- screw in the auxiliary handle (5); the handle can be mounted on the left
or right of the tool body.
FITTING ABRASIVE WHEEL (GL080-GL080E)
1. Insert the spacer (9).
2. insert the abrasive wheel;
3. Firmly tighten the locking ring (10) with the adjustable wrench, kee-
ping the spindle shaft (4) in place with the 17 mm wrench or the
locking button (3).
FITTING THE DISC HOLDER AND THE FIBER-COATED DISC (GL040-GL040E)
1. Insert the spacer (9).
2. Fit the disc holder (14) onto the spindle shaft (4).
3. Assemble the fiber-coated disc.
4. Tighten the tapered ring nut (10A) and lock it with the adjustable
wrench (13), keeping the spindle shaft (4) in place with the 17 mm
wrench or the locking button (3).
BEFORE STARTING THE TOOL
Ensure that:
- the power supply conforms with the characteristics of the tool;
- the power supply cable and plug are in perfect condition;
- the ON/OFF switch works properly though with the power supply
disconnected;
- verify that the shaft locking button (3) is disabled. To perform this check,
manually rotate the grinding wheel or disc-holder by at least one revolution;
- all the parts of the tool have been assembled in the proper manner and
that there are no signs of damage;
- the ventilation slots are not obstructed.
STARTING AND STOPPING
- Start
: press the locking button (2A) on the upper section of the handle,
then the switch lever (2). To lock the spindle shaft in order to be able to
carry out a continuous machining, press the switch lever (2), then the
locking lever (2A) and hold it down while releasing the switch lever (2),
so that is firmly maintained in position.
- Stop
: release the switch lever or, if this is blocked, push the lever in
order to release the locking button.
TEST RUN
Start the tool and check that there are no unusual vibration, no dismatching
of the wheel.
Otherwise switch-off the tool immediately and eliminate the cause.
