Do not use containers of under 10 cm or over 20 cm in diameter.
L) TO TURN OFF THE SIDE BURNER (depending on
model)
Turn the control handle back to the OFF position ( ). Then turn off the
gas cylinder valve if the grill is not in use.
M) REPLACING THE GAS CYLINDER
- Always work in a well ventilated area and never in the presence of a
flame, spark or heat source.
- Return the control knobs to the “OFF” position ( ), then close the cylin-
der valve.
- Remove the regulator, check that the sealing joint is in good condition.
- Put the full cylinder in place, refit the regulator, taking care not to apply
stress to the hose. CHECK FOR GAS LEAKS.
N) OPERATION
- It’s recommended that protective gloves be worn to handle compo-
nents which may be very hot.
- Put approx. 1 litre of water in the bottom of the tank to allow easier
cleaning and avoid grease ignition.
Before doing any cooking, the appliance should be preheated for about
15 minutes with the control knob in the FULL FLAME position ( ) and
the lid closed. When using the appliance for the first time, it should be
preheated for about 20 minutes in order to eliminate the smell of paint
on the new parts.
The cooking speed can be modulated by setting the control knobs.
Temperature with lid closed :
- in FULL FLAME position ( ) with both burners lit, approximately 280 °C,
- in LOW FLAME position ( ) with both burners lit, approximately 200 °C,
- in FULL FLAME position ( ) with one burner lit, approximately 180 °C,
- in LOW FLAME position ( ) with one burner lit, approximately 120 °C.
IMPORTANT : If a burner flame goes out when the unit is in use, imme-
diately turn the control knobs to the “OFF” ( ) position, open the lid and
wait 5 minutes to allow the unburned gas to dissipate. Only attempt to
light again after this time period has elapsed.
O) CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
- Never modify the barbecue : any modification may prove dangerous.
- After use, pull the bottom of the tank out of its housing, empty out the
water and clean using a sponge with washing-up liquid.
- In order to maintain your barbecue in perfect operating condition, it is
recommended to clean it periodically (after 4 or 5 uses).
- Wait until the barbecue has cooled down before cleaning.
- Close the gas cylinder.
- The grill burner must be cleaned and checked every 3 months.
Remove the entire burner and check that no dirt or spider webs block
the Venturi tube openings, which may cause the burner to be less effi-
cient or cause a dangerous gas fire outside the burner.
- BASE WALLS, LID, GRILLS, CONTROL PANEL and BASE BOT-
TOM: Clean these items periodically with a sponge and dish-washing
liquid. Do not use abrasive agents. Do not use the grills in a self-clean-
ing oven as the excessively high temperatures may damage the
chrome-plated sections.
- LID WINDOW: Clean periodically with a window-cleaning or fireplace
window cleaning product. If it is difficult to clean, remove the window
pane from the lid and clean it with an oven-cleaning product.
- METAL SURFACES IMMEDIATELY AROUND BURNERS: These
metal parts are coated with aluminium. Oven-cleaning products must
not be used in any circumstances, as they would damage the alumini-
um.
- CERAMIC PARTS: The ceramic parts are active components of the
burners. They glow red during use. THEY MUST NOT BE CLEANED,
MOISTENED OR RUBBED AS THIS COULD DAMAGE THEM.
P) STORAGE
- Close the gas cylinder valve after use.
- If you store your barbecue indoors, disconnect the gas cylinder and
store the cylinder outdoors.
- If you store your barbecue outdoors, it is recommended that a protec-
tive cover be used.
- When not used for a long period of time, it is recommended that the
barbecue be stored in a dry, sheltered place (such as a garage). Store
the ceramic briquettes in a dry place.
Q) CERAMIC BRIQUETTES
- Briquettes should be replaced when they become heavily coated in
grease. This will only happen after they have been used many times.
Briquettes should be changed more frequently when fatty meat is
cooked or when meat and fish are cooked alternately.
- Use replacement briquettes from CAMPINGAZ. We cannot accept
responsibility should other briquettes be used.
- Place the briquettes on the grid in one layer. Leave 1 to 2 cm between
each row of briquettes. We recommend 4 rows of 9 briquettes."
R) GLASS WINDOW
Avoid thermal shocks (cold water in contact with a hot glass window).
S) COOKING METHODS
Your RBS barbecue is specially designed to make your cooking task
easy and pleasant, as well as providing the special flavour that is the
attraction of cooking on a barbecue.
With your RBS barbecue, you will be able to cook fatty meats
(sausages, chipolatas, drumsticks, etc…) without having to worry about
flare-ups.
What is more, your RBS barbecue is specially designed to allow quick
and crispy cooking on a spit.
During cooking, grease drips down onto the ceramic briquettes. On con-
tact, the water contained in the grease evaporates and rises to add
flavour to the meat.
N.B. : To prevent your food sticking to the grill, simply smear the grill
with edible oil or rub it with greasy paper. Do not place anything on the
grill when cold. It is advisable to place delicate foods that may stick, on
a sheet of aluminium foil.
1) Roasting on the spit (sold as an accessory for some models)
- With lid open.
Pieces of meats and poultry with a regular shape are suitable for cook-
ing on the spit. Push the spit through the middle of them and then attach
them with the two forks provided. Poultry must be carefully tied before
being placed on the spit.
To grill meat on the spit, remove the grill and arrange the ceramic bri-
quettes so that they cannot touch the piece of meat to be grilled. You
can also separate the ceramic briquettes and place an aluminium dish
between them in order to catch the cooking juices.
2) Grilling - lid open or closed
Place the food to be grilled directly on the grill. Turn the pieces of food
and move them around depending on how quickly they are cooking and
according to taste.
When the lid is closed, the heat is increased to allow quicker cooking.
However, to avoid burning your food, it is advisable to keep a close eye
on how it is cooking and to turn the control knobs down to minimum if
necessary.
3) Oven cooking - lid closed
You can also use your barbecue to cook gratin dishes, pizzas or souf-
flés, etc.. At the maximum setting, your oven will be very hot (280 °C).
You should, therefore, adjust the oven temperature according to the dish
you are preparing (see § N).
4) Cooking in foil
Carefully wrap the food to be grilled in kitchen foil to keep in all the juice.
This method is especially suitable when cooking fish, potatoes and
other vegetables, etc..
NEVER COMPLETELY COVER THE GRILL WITH ALUMINIUM
FOIL.
T) ACCESSORIES
ADG advises that its gas barbecues should systematically be
used with accessories and replacement parts from Campingaz.
ADG accepts no responsibility for any damage or malfunction
due to the use of accessories and/or replacement parts from
other brands.
